I’ve taken a few steps back from alcohol. I haven’t stopped drinking completely, but I’ve cut way back. My wife and I have been creating goals for each month:
Dry January
Fitness February
Bookworm March
New Skill April
_ May
Romantic June
Gym July
_ August
_ September
_ October
_ November
_ December
And we’re still working on the rest of the months to figure out the goals. I feel like these goals have helped a lot. It gives us something to look forward to as we integrate each segment into our lives. Now that we’ve completed Dry January, we’ve been drinking less and using our alternatives to alcohol when we want a drink, but don’t want alcohol. I haven’t smoked technically since January 1, 2024 when we were celebrating New Year’s Eve. We didn’t stay up very late past midnight, but I still smoked after 12:00 AM and we still had a couple of drinks after that, so we counted Dry January as the day of January 1st until January 31st. For Fitness February, my wife worked out every day of February, but I was reluctant and didn’t start until February 10th, I believe. Now, we work out virtually every day with the exception of yesterday because I got home later than I thought I would and we were going out to dinner. We did our workout today and I feel very good about it. So, we’re slowly working each segment into our lives and trying to stick with them all. I’d really like to do a social media cleanse for one of the months. I’m hardly on it lately, just Reddit mostly, but sometimes I’ll hop on TikTok or Instagram or YouTube and scroll through videos. I’ve been starting new books left and right and I’m trying to finish them, but I think I’ve been letting my ADHD get the best of me lately.
