Today, I lost my job. Well, not today, he told me I have 30 days.
Wowch.
I checked the date on my phone to verify the exact date of my termination. November 2, 2024.
Double wowch.
Are you there, Dad? It’s me, Alex.
I’m in shock. I started this job on October 18, 2018, so I’ll be coming up on my 6th year at the company in about 2 weeks.
Six years of putting myself on the backburner, arguments between my now-wife and I, long work days only to come home to work more. I’m supposed to have back surgery, but I put that on hold, too. Top surgery? On hold, too. Everything has been on hold. My work-life balance has been a little too heavy on one side.
He told me the company is unable to sustain my services. He values me and the work I’ve done for the company. I turned an occasional delivery with no direction into an entire department. I ran it almost seamlessly for the years I was in charge of it.
It’s Sheila’s birthday weekend. We had so many plans. Ugh.
I have a lot more to say about this, but my thoughts are fleeting at the moment. I’ll come back to this later.
